|London play to sell tickets for a shilling
Theatregoers will be invited to pay the equivalent of a shilling to see the play as part of a commemoration of the anniversary of the start of World War II 70 years ago.
The special ticket price will be available to the first 100 people who come to the Apollo Theatre for the 19:00 performance dressed in 1940s period costume, the Official London Theatre Guide revealed.
Kacey Ainsworth of EastEnders fame appears in Carrie's War in the role of Lou, while Prunella Scales plays Mrs Gotobed and Sarah Edwardson portrays the character of Carrie.
The story is based on Bawden's own experiences during World War II, when she was evacuated from London and sent to Wales.
London hotel guests who enjoy comedy will be able to visit the Apollo Theatre later this year to see performances by Ross Noble and Dylan Moran.
