|London 'has luxury appeal'
Ken Kelling, communications director at Visit London, said that there is a large portion of the visitor market that is based on spending a lot of money on unique experiences.
The quality of London hotels, restaurants, shops and other attractions adds to the experience of visiting the capital for many people, Mr Kelling said.
"We have some of the most famous hotels in the world and some of the most luxurious places to shop," he commented.
"For some international visitors that is a big attraction, they want to come to a luxurious destination and they want to spend money."
However, there is also plenty in London to interest people who are travelling on a budget, with Mr Kelling claiming that one of the city's biggest strengths is that it has got "something for everyone".
According to a recent survey by First Rate Exchange Services, Trafalgar Square is the most popular attraction in the UK among international visitors.
