West London hotel visitors now have the opportunity to pay a visit to the updated Heddon Street, which recently benefited from a major revamp.

The area, which is one of Regent Street's two food quarters, was reopened following its makeover by Robert Davis, deputy leader of Westminster City Council.

Visitors can now walk among palm and olive trees on the terraces of Heddon Street and stop for a sit down at bars and restaurants such as Momo, Piccolino's and the Mo Tea Room.

Mr Davis said: "The West End is changing for the better and the transformation of Heddon Street from deserted back alley to thriving al fresco hotspot is testament to that.

"The Crown Estate's commitment and support has been vital to our own plans and vision to ensure the West End is truly world class by 2012, when the eyes of the world will be upon us."

The development of Heddon Street is part of a £750 million investment and regeneration programme underway in the Regent Street area.
