Popular family show The Gruffalo has had its run extended at the Duchess Theatre.

The production was originally scheduled to be on stage over Christmas and come to an end on January 4th, but is now set to close on January 11th, according to the Official London Theatre Guide.

Based on the popular children's book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler, the Gruffalo tells the story of a mouse who sets off to look for food in a forest and encounters animals including a fox, an owl and a snake.

The mouse scares the predators off with tales of an imaginary monster called the Gruffalo, but gets a surprise when he meets the very animal he dreamt up.

Tall Stories first staged an adaptation of the story in 2006 and the show has since gone on to enjoy success all over the UK and in North America.

While the Gruffalo attracts family audiences at the Duchess Theatre during the day, Buddy – The Buddy Holly Story will be entertaining London hotel visitors at the venue with evening showings until February 7th.
