Visitors to London will be able to see an innovative film installation at the Wellcome Collection from this month which deals with fascinating but sometimes harrowing themes.

Entitled The Watch Man, the creation by Shona Illingworth will be on show from December 16th until January 11th.

The piece explores the conflict between having traumatic memories and the need to have a "coherent life story".

Made in collaboration with Professor Martin Conway, the installation addresses its themes by showing the experience of an 80-year-old watchmaker, who as a 19-year-old endured the horrific events of World War II.

London hotel visitors who are interested in the themes explored in The Watch Man can also head to the Wellcome Collection on January 31st when Professor Conway will be speaking at the venue's Remembering War symposium.

Remembering War is an initiative organised by the Wellcome Collection that is inviting people to submit their memories of war on the institution's website, some of which will be commented on by Professor Conway during his talk.
