|Family holidays 'important for all'
Kate Kenward, executive director of the Association of Independent Tour Operators, said that family holidays are a priority for the majority of people, regardless of economic conditions.
She added that there has been a continuation in bookings for family holidays, despite the gloom and doom caused by the recession.
The comments closely follow a report from HolidayExtras.com, which revealed that spending time with loved ones is the top reason for holidays for some 40 per cent of people in the UK.
"They realise it's impossible to put a price on the value of a relaxing break, whether overseas or in the UK," commented Ms Kenward.
"Any country offering good value, family friendly facilities, and particularly self-catering accommodation, is going to be well received."
