Catalan theatre company La Fura dels Baus will make its English National Opera (ENO) debut this autumn with a production of Gyorgy Ligeti's darkly comic work Le Grand Macabre.

London hotel guests will be able to see the show - which features unusual aspects such as cross-gender casting and surrealist set designs - at the London Coliseum from September 17th to October 9th.

In 1982, the ENO staged the UK premiere of Le Grand Macabre and now presents the composer's 1996 revision.

The particular brand of performance art practiced by La Fura dels Baus is described as "total theatre". The company was responsible for creating the opening ceremony at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics.

Le Grand Macabre will be followed by Jonathan Miller's acclaimed production of Giuseppe Verdi's Rigoletto at the London Coliseum.

People planning London hotel breaks will be able to see nine performances of the show between September 21st and October 23rd.
