|Delve into the history of writing and drawing
This show, which Kensington hotel visitors will be able to see until August 31st, explores the ever-changing relationship between methods of communication and their users.
Created by the designers Jurg Lehni and Alex Rich and curated by design historian Emily King, the exhibition features a range of interactive and non-interactive devices used for writing and drawing.
The star of the show is Viktor, a large wall-drawing machine that is powered by small motors and controlled by an adapted version of ordinary design software.
Every Thursday evening, Viktor will trace designs on one of the ICA gallery walls to accompany speeches given by a number of designers, artists and musicians.
The speakers will include artist Ryan Gander (July 24th), who will use Viktor to create a piece from his library of unrealised works, and Tuomas Toivonen (August 7th) who will be visually accompanied by Viktor as he plays a concert on an electronic glass harp.
