|Brits 'missing out on holiday time'
BT Business carried out a survey which found that one in ten UK employees will sacrifice a week of their annual holiday entitlement this year over fears that their job may not be secure in their absence.
Overall, British workers could forego a quarter of their annual leave based on the government's legal minimum holiday entitlement.
Bill Murphy, managing director of BT Business, acknowledged that many people are under stress in the workplace and emphasised the importance of taking some time out.
"We all need to take a break from work and recharge and this is a worrying situation," he said. "Companies that are adopting smarter working are seeing the positive impact on their staff motivation.
"Cancelling summer breaks will not only have a catastrophic effect on employee wellbeing but can also impact their productivity and therefore a company's overall output."
People who take London hotel breaks to get away from it all this summer will be able to attend events including the Notting Hill Carnival (August 30th-31st) and the Tower Festival (September 9th-20th).
