|British Museum to display ancient Japanese figures
London hotel guests will be able to see the Power of Dogu exhibit at the Museum from September 10th to November 22nd.
The showcase highlights the power and unusual aesthetic appeal of ceramic figures known as dogu, which were created in great numbers in prehistoric Japan.
Dogu date back tens of thousands of years to the Jomon period and represent the oldest tradition of pottery manufacture in the world. Most of the pieces in the British Museum display are from between 2500 and 1000 BC.
The majority of the pieces, which have been borrowed from private and public collections in Japan, have never been seen outside the country before.
London hotel guests will also have the opportunity to learn about Aztec culture at the British Museum this year when the new exhibition Moctezuma: Aztec Ruler opens on September 24th.
