|Weddings in Singapore 'can be cheaper'
According to bridal publication Wedding, because those getting married on foreign shores tend to invite fewer guests their overheads immediately drop.
Furthermore, brides and grooms do not necessarily have to pay for each of their guests to check into a Singapore hotel, with some attendees considering the wedding their holiday for the year.
Research conducted by Mintel recently found that 16 per cent of British weddings now happen abroad, which equates to 51,300 overseas ceremonies - a 43 per cent increase since 2003.
Furthermore, according to Weddingsday, the average ceremony costs £18,500, with honeymoon and first night hotel bills typically coming in at 18.5 per cent of the price.
Andrea Ventress, deputy editor at Wedding, said: "[Marrying abroad] is still popular because it is still a much cheaper option.
"Because you're not having a hundred guests, you're just having close friends and family, that hugely reduces your costs. Again it's much more personal, and people, if they want to, when they come home can have a big party."
