Singapore's tourist industry has seen a recovery during July, suggesting that tourists are continuing to holiday in the Asian city despite the global credit crunch.

Last month, 881,000 tourists visited the nation, with an estimated 4.6 million days spent in the nation by holidaymakers, reports Asia Travel Tips.

Indonesian holidaymakers were the largest group to visit Singapore, followed by Australians, the Chinese, Indian and Malaysians, with these markets accounting for 50 per cent of total arrivals.

Other nationalities checking into a Singapore hotel included Vietnamese and tourists from Hong Kong, which experts noted could be down to Singapore Tourism Board's promotion of the city in those countries recently.

Meanwhile, Singapore-based budget carrier Jetstar has announced plans to increase the frequency of its flights from its hub to mainland China, in a move that could make it easier for holidaymakers to reach a Singapore hotel.
