Singapore Changi Airport has been named the third-best place in the world to fly through.

The Asian hub moved down one place from 2008 in the World Airport Awards survey, which uses data from over 8.6 million questionnaires completed by passengers of 97 different nationalities to make its league table.

A spokesperson for the awards highlighted how well Singapore had done to finish in the top three.

"Skytrax reported that the final winning margins between these top three positions was the smallest ever known for such a large global project," the spokesperson explained.

"At one stage it looked possible there might be a dead-heat result between these top three airports."

Earlier this month, travellers at the airport's terminal two were treated to a meet and greet session with US girl group the Pussycat Dolls, which was organised by the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore.
