|Singapore Airlines remains optimistic
Benjamin Chan of Singapore Airlines had said that despite the economic downturn the next few months should be positive for the carrier, according to trade publication Business Report.
He confirmed that holidaymakers will have more travel options when it comes to reaching Singapore, as the carrier will resume its non-stop route between Cape Town and the city in October.
The airline is a member of the Star Alliance and has a code share agreement with South African Airlines, boosting its international credentials.
Earlier this year, Singapore was named the best sight-seeing city in the Asia Pacific region at the annual Seoul Tourism Awards, while its web presence in this sector was also commended.
"We are very honoured to be the recipient of these two prestigious awards in acknowledgement of our attractive tourism product offerings and quality infrastructure as well as our effective online marketing efforts," said Mr Ken Low, assistant chief executive at the Singapore Tourism Board.
