A show of grace and beauty will be presented in Singapore next month as ballerinas pirouette to perfection in a dance-off.

The Genee International Ballet competition will take place between September 9th and 12th at the National University of Singapore's Cultural Centre Hall between 10:00 and 15:00 local time, with the finals at 19:00 local time.

Visit Singapore explains that this year is the first time the competition, which began in 1931, has been held in the city.

Battling ballerinas will perform a commissioned variation created by New Zealand choreographer Adrian Burnett and will also be invited to interpret a 19th century classical repertoire variation.

Event organisers say: "The Genee is a demanding competition and attracts the finest young ballet dancers from all over the world.

"It offers a unique opportunity to work with and learn from world-renowned teachers and choreographers and also the chance to dance on the best international stages."
