Holidaymakers heading to a Singapore hotel later this month will be able to enjoy an annual celebration.

On August 29th the perhaps confusingly-named May Day event will take place at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

VisitSingapore says that last year, the May Day "won the applause of many" and made history by transforming the venue into a 360-degree stage formation.

"Come 2009, Mayday promises more surprises and excitement for their Concert. So hurry! Grab your tickets now," it adds.

Singapore is known as one of China's most developed and cosmopolitan cities, bustling with antique shops, neon bars and lots of traffic.

Orchard Road is a favourite haunt of shopaholics looking for a bargain buy in a previously undiscovered boutique.

It is inhabited by residents of Chinese, India, Malaysian and British descent and its heritage is a fusion of these backgrounds, giving holidaymakers plenty to learn about during their stay.
