|Celebrate Navarathiri in Singapore
Between September 19th and 27th the event will take place at the Sri Thendayuthapani Temple when Indian song and dance will take over the religious building.
Meaning nine lights in Tamil, the festival celebrates the three Hindu goddesses Durga, Lakshmi and Saraswathi.
While the event is a religious occasion, tourists are welcome to join in the celebrations so long as they are respectful of the local customs.
Those checked into a Singapore hotel may find the event offers them a unique insight into the culture of Singapore.
AsiaRooms.com says: "The celebrations of Navarathri also include classical Indian dance and musical performances in any of the Hindu temples of Singapore."
It adds that while the main celebrations are at the Sri Thandayuthapani Temple on Tank Road, other festivities will also be occurring around the city.
