|La Boheme set for New York Met revival
Starting on December 26th, the iconic venue will play host to Franco Zeffirelli's acclaimed production of Puccini's great opera, with a host of big names lined up for the five performances.
Leading conductor Frederic Chaslin will wave the baton for the production, directing the likes of Maija Kovalevska and Ramon Vargas, who will play the ill-fated lovers Mimi and Rodolfo.
Also set to appear are stars such as Tommi Hakala and Paul Plishka, while Susanna Phillips will make her Metropolitan Opera debut, taking on the role of Musetta.
This eagerly-anticipated production comes as the renowned opera house celebrates its 125th anniversary.
Over the years, it has welcomed nearly all of classical music's greatest performers and maestros such as Gustav Mahler and Artuto Toscanini have directed productions there.
La Boheme first made its debut in 1896 in the city of Turin, since when it has gone on to become one of the world's most frequently performed operatic works.
