Being ranked among the top ten most popular domestic festivals in China, Wuxi Wu Culture Festival is an annual celebration in Wuxi. Located between Nanjing and Suzhou in the Jiandsu Province of China, Wuxi is an olden industrial city which was admired for its tin deposits back in the day. Established towards the end of the Shang Dynasty, the city is still famous for the Wu culture, one of the well esteemed clan cultures in China. With a history of over 3000 years, it belongs to one of the eight primitive cultural districts in China.

The Wuxi Wu Culture Festival does not only bring happiness to the locals and visitors, it also serves as a platform for cultural exchange. The festival basically comprises a number of activities including religious ceremonies dedicated to its initiator, Taibo, the eldest offspring of the Emperor Zhou Tai. A significant feature of the festival is a special forum conducted on several subjects such as international symposium on the Wu Culture as well as Chinese heritage and culture. Named after the local culture, the festival has eventually become the basis of the city’s economical and cultural development.

Boasting a long and rich history, the unique Wu culture and its entire concept is said to have been originated through a blend of diversity and sincerity. The culture essentially matured through traditional Chinese culture whilst also being influenced by modernisation that took over China later on. Presently the city of Wuxi is synonymous with the Wu Culture Festival as well as Wu culture. The festival grandly celebrates the city and its inheriting civilization whilst realizing cultural revitalization.
