An ancient city steeped in history, Wuxi is located on the borders of Tai Lake and offers
visitors a chance to soak up some local culture. Those planning a Wuxi sightseeing tour should
definitely make time to visit The Three Kingdom Film City which offers a unique perspective on
local film making.
The Three Kingdom Film City is situated in a suburb of Wuxi City and was initially built in
1993 to be used as a background and set location for the popular CCTV television series called ‘
Romance of Three Kingdoms’. Taking place during the Han Dynasty, this historical series chronicled
the power struggles and intrigues of the Shu, Wu and Wei kingdoms that were three rival powers at
the time.
Spread out across an area of around 35 hectares, the Three Kingdom Film City is a fascinating
place to visit for both movie buffs and tourists alike. Since the television series took place
during the Han Dynasty, realistic sets and buildings were needed and these magnificent and accurate
replicas can be found here.
Among the popular attractions in the city are such Han-style structures as King Wu Palace,
Nectar Temple, the Seven Star Altar and replicas of around twenty warships. Standing 21 metres in
height, the two Quelou Towers are the tallest buildings in the Three Kingdom Film City, while those
visiting Ganlu Temple will find such places of interest as the Sword Testing Stone, the Drum Tower
and the Buddhist Hall.
Millennium Hotel Wuxi is ideally located in the city’s lively New District and offers
travellers a great base from which to explore the area and its attractions.
