Puxi is Shanghai’s largest residential district and is also referred to as the cultural heart of Shanghai, as it houses many important cultural attractions as well as being the major entertainment district in the city. Puxi literally means “west of the Huangpu” since it is bordered by the Huangpu River and encompasses nine of the nineteen urban districts that constitute Shanghai.

The major bar streets of Maoming Lu and Julu Lu are known to be some of the best party areas in Puxi. Being the center of the city Puxi is well connected to other parts of the country, the old airport - Hongqiao International Airport and the main Railway Station is located in this region of Shanghai.
