News|Zhanshan Temple in QingdaoLocated southwest of Zhanshan in east Qingdao and east of Taiping Mountain, this temple is a beautiful sight. It began being built in 1933 and was completed in 1945, finally occupying an area of 15,333 square metres. Two stone lions guard the entrance and in front of the temple there is a lotus flower pond. Various buildings are located in the courtyard, including Daxiong temple, Sansheng temples, Tianwang temple and residences for guests. For history buffs the most exciting place may be the Buddhist scriptures building which houses over 6,000 volumes of old Tibetan Buddhist literature and ancient Buddha images. The landscape surrounding the temple is as beautiful as the buildings contained within, with the south side facing the Yellow Sea and the east, west and north sides facing the Fu, Zhan and Taiping Mountains respectively. Zhanshan Temple is open from 08:00 until 17:00.
