Located in the area in between, Sharjah and Al-Dhaid is the immense space of the Sharjah desert. Established here is the Sharjah Desert Park which serves as a nature reserve, its origins began with just the protection of a few species of endangered lizards.

Also located in this stretch of deserts if the Sharjah Natural History Museum which is a separate complex in itself and is one of the most prominent museums in Sharjah, UAE. Its mission is to spread the knowledge of plant and animal life among the public. The museum is high tech venue that features displays of the regions ecosystems and natural history.

One exhibition room that is housed here shows the impact of human civilization on the desert while entire two floors are used to showcases the geology of the region with a complement of crystals and fossils. Some of the other exhibits that can be found here include dinosaur models, volcanoes, fossils and meteorites from space.

Another item of interest in the desert area is the Children’s Farm which presents kids with the opportunity to view and pet animals like goats, sheep, lamb, chicken and ponies. Also on offer is the Reptile House which exhibits various rare species of snakes, lizards and insects.

Also situated here is the The Arabian Wildlife centre which features animals like foxes, porcupines and jackals. Visitors can observe these animals through the large windows of an air conditioned hall that present an exciting opportunity to view wildlife up close and personal. The center for Breeding Centre Endangered Wildlife which serves the chance to further the mission of the museum is also housed here. However this destination is not open for public viewing.
