News|Abu Dhabi hotels enjoy record year in 2011During the course of 2011, hotels in the city had some 2,111,611 people staying in them beating the predicted target of two million by 6.5 percent, or over 100,000 guests. Annual growth was recorded across a number of key areas including guest nights, which were up 22 per cent, occupancy levels which rose by seven per cent to 69 percent revenue, and length of stay which expanded by five percent to 2.97 nights. Sheikh Sultan bin Tahnoon Al-Nahyan, chairman of the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority, said: "This is a highly encouraging result in a year which has seen substantial additions to our hotel and resort inventory, including several five-star beach properties opening up Saadiyat Island to guests." December 2011 was found to be the highest achieving month of the year, with some 207,723 guests, a 26 per cent rise on December 2010.
